68%. Where are you?
Oh, gods, we're 15th worst here in MO:
Mississippi most religious, Vermont least, survey says
WASHINGTON — Want to be almost certain you'll have religious neighbors? Move to Mississippi. Prefer to be in the least religious state? Venture to Vermont.
A new Gallup Poll, based on more than 350,000 interviews, finds that the Magnolia State is the one where the most people — 85% — say yes when asked "Is religion an important part of your daily life?"
Less than half of Vermonters, meanwhile — 42% — answered that same question in the affirmative.
Kudos to the Vermonters. Man, it'd be nice to be someplace where rationality was close to being in the majority. Missouri (my home) is at 68% - the 15th worst (most religious).
Gah.
Where are you?

I'm up over here
in Vermont.
I think my state should secede to join Canada. Our border is with Quebec but we just feel more Ontariosh to me. It is going to be weird needing my passport next time I go to Montreal (for WorldCon, woot!)
BTW, Dan Fogel was quickly hissed for that Ben Stein move and he had no idea Stein was such a jerk re science. See news, links, updates at www.richarddawkins.net. Fogel learned from this and it is a happy outcome.
I'm up here...
...in Canada, the 51st (and best!) state.
I think we have about the same proportion of religious crazies as the USA has, but they are still considered pretty "fringe" in the Conservative party.
I may dislike Stephen Harper (the Conservative leader and our current Prime Minister), but due to necessity, I think he might just BARELY be more conservative than Obama. The religious right up here is having a real tough time with the fact that Harper doesn't have the power or political capital to pass legislation that conforms to their socially conservative wishes. With his minority government, Harper is having to emulate the center-left Liberal party just to hold on to power. Since Canada tends to lean a little more left than our neighbors to the south, the Conservatives have problems scaring us into submission with the success the Republicans have had frightening you Yankees into voting for them for most of the past 30 years.
Apparently I'm wrong...
...About Canada having just as many crazy religious people. Check out this CBC story!
Apparently a new poll suggests that a full 23 percent of Canadians reported not believing in any god! Wow!
I'm SO proud of my fellow countrymen (and women)! Sniff!
double yeah!
On a boat, away from all the scumbag religionists!
Kansas - #13
That's yet another reason to justify why I have felt Vermont is the best part of the United States for several decades. Looking at the full list, I'd be willing to bet that there is a near-perfect inverse relationship to the average amount of education of the residents of the states.
Virginia. Tied with you, Jim.

those who understand binary and those who don't.
I'm in Sweden. So yeah.

Kentucky is 10th
The list is dominated by southern states-noted for their high rates of poverty, illness, high school drop-outs, out-of-wedlock pregnancies, obesity, smoking and executions.
yeah
i'd like to hear the explanation of that whole UVM nonsense.
Vermont
On the downside, the University of Vermont invited Ben Stein to give the commencement address.

Hurray for Vermont
Vermont also has Bernie Sanders, independent Senator, often heard on Thom Hartmann's radio show Friday AMs. Brains and sensibility galore.
