Observations and inanities by a second-shift assistant supervisor in the Puppy-Grinding division of the Evil Atheist Conspiracy® (our motto: "Sure it's cruel, but think of the jobs!"), your host, Brent Rasmussen.
Let's all say it together now:
"It's OK if you are a Christian."
What is? Well, this:
Ky. school trip included baptisms
LOUISVILLE — A mother is angry about a trip led by the head football coach at Breckinridge County High School. The coach took about 20 players on a school bus late last month to his church, where nearly half of them — including her son — were baptized.
Michelle Ammons said her 16-year-old son was baptized without her knowledge and consent, and she is upset that a public school bus was used to take players to a church service — and that the school district's superintendent was there and did not object.
* * *
But Superintendent Janet Meeks, who is a member of the church and witnessed the baptisms, said she thinks the trip was proper because attendance was not required, and another coach paid for the gas.
Meeks said parents weren't given permission slips to sign but knew the event would include a church service, if not specifically a baptism. She said eight or nine players came forward and were baptized.
"None of the players were rewarded for going and none were punished for not going," Meeks said.
Just imagine the uproar had the group stopped at a Mosque and done the bow-to-Mecca thing.
*SIGH* Sometimes, the Stupid, it Burns So Bad.

(Yeah, I'm back from my bit of vacation, with some great things to share. But it'll have to wait until later - I have about 100 pounds of tomatoes from my garden to deal with today. Oh, and the story is via dKos.)

Start a trend
Next month's field trip will include circumcisions for all. It's good for team unity.
Baptism?
What's the big deal? Sixteen is old enough to have sex and get an abortion without parental consent, but people are freaking out cause a kid was voluntarily baptized?
If the argument is about misuse of school funds and property, ok. But getting pissed cause a kid was baptized without consent? I wonder if these kids get consent for sex, beer, and a little toke now and then lol. ;)
Now, me personally, I wouldn't want my kid baptized by the school OR listening to a political speech without my permission. Just sayin'...
Without Consent
Eh. People are funny about their religion. I still like the other idea suggested here -- baptize them one week, take them for Muslim indoctrination the next, force them to learn Tibetan chanting the week after. Set up a field trip to the Creation Museum this month, but then run them down to Alabama for a hooded prayer meeting with the KKK the next.
And ... Obama's speech was not "political." Except in the sense that complete idiots made it so.
Indoctrination
Actually, there are a few public schools I've read about that, in the interest of diversity, are requiring students to participate in Muslim prayers and wear Muslim-style clothing.
And don't forget classes on diversity to teach kids about homosexuality. For some people, sexual orientation is just like a religion. ;)
Source, please
I doubt that any public school is "requiring" students to participate in Muslim prayers.
And learning about tolerance for homosexuality -- or Islam -- is nowhere near the same thing as being indoctrinated in the practice of either.
I promise you, nobody is teaching your kids to join the Church of Homosexuality.
Or even WORSE,
They could have exposed the defenseless children to a speech about staying in school and working hard to achieve their dreams...
OH MY GOD!
Not that! Anything but that!!!

I would be furious!
Or how about attending a witches ceremony...not sure what they're called.
Just outrageous.
Witches Ceremony
That would be "dancing in the woods sans knickers."
