Stop Whatever You're Doing

...and go vote. Right now. We'll still be here when you get back.

I agree with it.

Congratulations, Brent

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Arizona the first state to reject a gay marriage ban at the ballot box?

I can't vote - at least not without risking arrest and deportation - but I have a family friend who got naturalized a few months ago and who I convinced to vote against Santorum.

Yep!

It looks like Prop. 107 was rejected. I am proud of (most of) my fellow Arizonans for thinking clearly on this one.

You mean you haven't voted already?

You mean you didn't get your ballot in the mail a few weeks ago, then take your time filling it out and then drop it off at your local library at your own leisure? I guess we have a little secret up here in Oregon? Maybe we'll let you all in on it someday.

On a serious note, it has been raining cats and dogs for four days straight now. The whole state is in a flood watch. The morning commute was brutal (a tree fell across all three lanes of a major freeway going into downtown). I have no doubt that if we didn't have vote-by-mail there would definitely be a lower turnout due to weather (after all, it is November, nobody ever has any bad weather in November).

True Enough...

You mean you didn't get your ballot in the mail a few weeks ago, then take your time filling it out and then drop it off at your local library at your own leisure?

Ack! I meant to do that, but messed around and missed the deadline. Definitely in 2008.

Wow, Bruce, that's terrible! It's actually going to be record highs today and tomorrow here in Arizona. 90 today, and 90 tomorrow.

*sigh*

I don't think Fall and Winter are ever coming here. We'd sure like to take some of that rain off your hands!

Done...and just beginning

I voted as soon as the polls opened today. I'm sitting at my desk proudly wearing my sticker. I'm also loudly walking down the halls and checking in with everyone to make sure they voted. I'm proud to say that so far in my office of 18 people (about 75% of which are under 30) we only have 2 people who have not voted and are not planning to vote. Maryland's average is around a 40% turnout of registered voters. I'm just starting to make the ladies who did not vote feel bad about not doing their duty. Bob as my witness they will vote next time even if it is only to escape public humiliation at my hands.

Rick and I had a nice time last night sifting through all of the candidate crap that we got in the mail. We checked up on a few candidates' positions and Rick even made a phone call to one of the election headquarters to tell them that they had both of our votes until they voted against stem cell research funding in the state. It was actually enjoyable and it didn't take long to do the research. I wasn't even finished my black martini before my selections were made.

I feel good today! Fired up! I've done my part and I'm proud. (insert sappy non-country patriotic music without god references here)

Good on you!

Good on you, Mandy, Rick, everyone who has already voted! I got back about an hour ago, and it went smoothly (Columbia MO is a pretty solid Dem town, so no real efforts to confuse or create chaos by anyone here).

Now the waiting begins...

What?!

You can't tell me what to do! YOU'RE NOT THE BOSS OF ME!!!

Bribing Voters

Here in Arizona there's a proposition on the ballot for the state to use unpaid lottery earnings to fund a "Voter Lottery" that will award some lucky voter a cool couple-mil.

So, what do I have for you, you ask?

Well, I've got some Coors Light in the fridge. How's that for motivation? Heh.

Coors Light

That's it? How's about a nice Sam Adams instead?

(I'll be voting on my way home after work)
