Wow.
Allow me to share a small bit of surprising news I got today.
As I mentioned in this post, about six weeks ago, I've put my novel up for people's consideration. And some of you have been kind enough to take a look and make comments.
Anyway, I had been keeping track of hits to the site, and they weren't huge but not bad, averaging about a thousand a week. But today I dug a little deeper and saw that over 800 people have actually downloaded the .pdf of the novel. Wow.
That's not saying they actually read it, or if they did, they liked it. (It's OK if they don't like it - something I learned a long time ago.) But just having that many downloads is surprisingly good news to me, and something of a vindication of my goals in creating the website.
Just thought I'd share.

Not bad at all...
Pretty impressive stats to me. I read your book and found it very entertaining. Sci fi is not my genre but Communion of Dreams is well paced, very readable, and not tech heavy at all. I have sent links and encouragement to my family and friends but don't get excited, most of them can't read. It is a great break from the topics we discuss here everyday and it is free. Oh, that sounds like a plug. The standard plug fee will be fine.

You might take a page from Scalzi's Agent To The Stars, and make your novel "shareware." John offered it up for free download, as you have, and simply suggested that if one enjoyed the novel, one might consider making a voluntary one dollar payment for it. If I recall my facts correctly, he has made several thousand dollars from it.
