God's got tubes.

Ah, yes, imitation is the highest form of lameness, at least when it comes to GodTube - a Christian YouTube wanna-be. It has your predictably bad music, predictably bad Creationism arguments, predictably bad humor attempts, predictably bad acting, documentation for a future personal-injury suit, stuff that just makes you scratch your head (a baby with a banana??, Jesus and the Easter Bunny?), someone who freaks out when he sees the words XXX Girls flash on his computer, and a scary Satanism Documentary that claims that people who worship the devil are 'not religious' (um, yeah, they are, they just believe in a different tooth fairy than you do).

So, the next time you're feeling down, depressed about some aspect of life, go visit GodTube and be heartened that things could be worse: you could think that this stuff is good.

They blew it...

Dummies can't even come up with the proper "clever" name.

They should have stuck with pronouns and called it "HimTube."

Its not the first example of

Its not the first example of dedicated Christians (As opposed to the christian-but-not-really-into-it that makes up most of the western world) founding an immitation site, after judging part of the internet to be too immoral/dangerous.

- Wikipedia showing too much influence by the atheist conspiricy? Found Conservapedia!
- Myspace a hit no teen can be without, but influenced by soft-porn avatar and flirting? Several short-lived Christian Myspace sites were created... and all floped. Not because they were christian, but because noone wants to use them when all their friends are on myspace already.
- Youtube allowing too much free thought? Godtube will ensure no videos that may cause people to doubt their faith may be seen.
- Chat services risk exposing vulnerable children to non-christian ideas? There are some chat sites where users must agree to a statement of christian faith before getting in.

Thanks for the info.

As a youtube user since almost the beginning, I have found that the originality on youtube has faded. Something refreshing amongst youtube's barrel of passivity. So lazy and boring are the videos on youtube, that I rarely go there for entertainment or educational purposes.

I just checked this sites alexa rating. For a site that had no ranking back in January of this year, it currently ranks at 15,652. As a contrast, your site ranks at 671,157. Vox's site ranks at about 300,000. Youtube's bloated ranking is at 4.

Video is too passive.

I'll admit a bias - I rarely dive into video that people post or send me a link for, unless it comes from a trusted source with some explanation of content. I just find it too passive, too time-consuming, particularly for getting information. You have to watch it on its terms (no matter how ponderously the material is presented - no skimming to see what it is about and then deciding whether or not to read fully), you have pay attention to it more or less completely (as opposed to radio, which you can listen to while doing other things), et cetera. Sure, if I'm going to sit down and watch a movie, those things are fine - but for anything where someone is trying to tell me news/information/propaganda, no thanks.

Man, just when I thought they couldn't get any stupider... that "freak out" video is classic.

Being gay isn't a "real big No-No" if the preponderance of biblical emphasis is any indication. Ignoring the plight of the poor, though...

I think their logo looks a bit like "GodLube" but I won't tell them if you won't.

Ugh.

Watching some of those, this one, for instance, where a man with no neck challenges the Blasphemy Challenge, is like watching warthogs have sex.

You might watch in horrified fascination, but later you'll regret having the images in your head.

And isn't it funny how, as with so many things, this type of site wasn't created by Christians, but only copied -- much later -- in a lame, hopeful effort to borrow some of the Cool of the original creative idea?

...

I wonder ... do they let just ANYBODY post there? :D

Freak Out

The 'freak out' video was the best. You must watch till the end where the camera zooms in on a post-it note. It says-

Matthew 5:29
If your right eye causes you to sin, gouge it out and throw it away.

I am going to be very suspicious of the next person I see wearing an eye patch.

So bad that it passed up funny and is still bad

I recently saw a link to this video on a Wired blog. It's pretty horrid, but like a terrible auto accident, it's difficult to look away.

"...God said it's a real big no-no."

Oh yeah, that's another real gem on GodTube. There's just too much Godder-goodness there to really list it all.
