Evolution denial and Martian denial?

Even if we do find life on other planets the religious kooks will just rationalize that fact into their already warped beliefs or they will deny it outright. I think for most, no amount of evidence will convince them that their god is just a figment of their imaginations. I hear some of our religious visitors claim that they would change their beliefs if they saw overwhelming evidence that contradicts the existance of god or that the universe was caused by a creator, but I don't believe them. They treat science like it is the plague. They embrace ignorance. Religionists' spend their lives looking for reasons not to believe in science and sure enough, their self fulfilling prophecies come true. The problem is they never gave science a chance.

denial and scientific method

I think that we need to promote science (and especially scientific method) for what it is, an attempt to keep ourselves from fooling (lying to) ourselves. Questioning is the exact opposite of Religious Belief. Questioning is actually part of human (spiritual?) journey of growth and maturity of which the organized religions are deathly afraid.

What makes you think religious people don't give science a chance?
