A little Sunday-morning fright.

So, after you get through the funnies and catch up on the news, pour yourself another cuppa and sit back to be completely terrified by this diary from dKos: BREAKING: George W. Bush closet "Joel's Army" member?

No, I didn't write it. I didn't even comment in it. But it sets forth a pretty convincing case that our president is actually an end-times dominionist, of the most strident premillennialist variety.

And when seen through this filter, a lot of the otherwise almost-insane words and actions of the president make a lot of very frightening sense.

So, read it. But be prepared to be scared.

I found it frightening too

... except I never realized Bush was in the closet about it. It always seemed pretty clear that he and John Ashcroft were on the same frequency whatever their denominational affiliations.

I hesitate to bring this up because I don't want to start a quote meme that might not be true, but did anyone else ever see a Bush quote to the effect that he was fixing things so that future presidents could not escape America's "destiny"?

not sure

I'm pretty sure I heard something about him saying that he was going to fix things so the next president couldn't just pull out of Iraq the second he was out of office. However I didn't listen to the source material so I can't say whether he used the term "destiny", "mission" or other words of similar connotation in that statement. That being said it sounds just like something he would do that the mainstream news wouldn't necessarily quote word for word (for the reason that it seems to be relatively bad for reporters to make good old George look like he's suiting up to hunt dragons, or windmills if you prefer).
