I just read a disturbing bit of news on Wired Science about how the Texas science curriculum director was fired for forwarding an email from her work account about an upcoming speech being made by a person critical of Intelligent Design.

Texas' Chris Comer

B.A.-

Are you familiar with a blog called Pharyngula? It's one of my favorites. Anyway, the proprietor PZ Myers has been following this situation very closely. As a matter of fact, there is another article today. And I did a search on the Texas Education Agency so you can go back and read the previous posts if you like.

Scary stuff. I can't imagine living in a state that creationists have taken over. However, this isn't the first sign that Texas is crazy. I remeber reading somewhere that Texas school children must say the pledge of allegiance and the Texas State pledge of allegiance at the beginning of each school day. The reason it was noteworthy is because Texas recently added the words "under God" to their state pledge.
