Religion is harmful in so many ways
When I read things like this it really pisses me off. Why couldn't it have been one of the parents?

Parents Indicted
I just did a followup search on this story and found a report on the Huffington Post that the parents have been indicted on charges of manslaughter and criminal mistreatment.

I'd seen this story . . .
. . . over at PZ's place yesterday, and was simply disgusted. Disgusted, but not surprised - not surprised by the blindness of the parents, nor by the fact that they will likely be allowed to keep their other children and not face any kind of criminal neglect charges.
This is what comes of giving credence to everyone's favorite Sky-Daddy. It is no different than sacrificing a virgin child in order to get good crops, but because the parents cite "The Bible", they are likely going to get away with a particularly cruel and prolonged murder.

Makes Me Sick
Literally sick to my stomach. That poor girl. The parents should be arrested for child abuse and negligent homicide, tried, convicted, and sent to prison.
Yeah, I said it. Fuck those monsters and their weepy "we didn't do nothing wrong, praise gawd" bullshit.
Child Endangerment
There is plenty of case law precedence for charging Jehovah's Witnesses in similar situations, although I'm sure the parents will be looked at as martyrs by some if they're charged.
If I were one of the remaining kids I'd be looking at atheism real hard right about now. I'd also be pressuring my parents for medical insurance coverage.
