Strike a blow for freedom!
In what will undoubtedly be used to fire up the faithful about "judicial interference", the 3rd Circuit Court of Appeals has ruled for the separation of church and state:
3rd Circuit: Coach's Moment of Silence Constitutes Endorsement of Religion
In a closely watched school prayer case, the 3rd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals has ruled that a New Jersey high school football coach's First Amendment rights were not violated when school district officials ordered him to stop his practice of getting on bended knee with his players as they bowed their heads for a moment of silence before a game.
Reversing a lower court's decision in favor of East Brunswick High School football coach Marcus Borden, the appellate court found that since Borden had led the team in prayers for 23 years, his new practice of engaging in the silent acts of "taking a knee" and bowing his head would be reasonably perceived as an endorsement of religion.
Read the whole article - this coach had for decades "organized, participated in, and led prayer". The Superintendent, one Jo Ann Magistro, got wind of this and told him to cut it out, rightfully noting that this action was putting the district at risk of violating the Establishment Clause and inviting lawsuits. He sued, saying that the action violated his free speech rights. He won the first round in court, but on appeal the district got the above ruling.
Good news!

Christians are under attack
Christians are under attack in America! Take Grand Theft Jesus: The Hijacking of Religion in America. Written by Robert S. McElvaine for example. This worthless
"hitorian" attempts to attack Christians with the bible! This book is likely to be the refrence book of the Anti-Chris. I found this great review of Grand
Theft Jeses that tears the arguments Dr. McElvaine to shreds.
Whoo.
That "great review" was a nastily ad hominem attack piece. The guy might even be right, but I got about three paragraphs into it and couldn't care to read the rest.
Also, assuming you're serious (always an unwelcome bet when you're in the company of atheists, who have a lively sense of humor) ...
Christians are not under attack in America. Christians are finding themselves, for the first time, faced with people willing to defend themselves AGAINST attack.
When you're in the 6th grade and used to bullying the 3rd-graders, and then a feisty 9-year-old punches you in the nose to get you to STOP what you've been doing, that might seem like an unwarranted attack to you, but what it really is, is equal rights suddenly subjecting you to long-delayed justice.
Get used to it, bucko. Some of us want our world back.
Darwinism/eugenics was the
Darwinism/eugenics was the justification for the holocaust. Much like WMD's were the reason we invaded Iraq. The forced sterilizations in US history are just as disturbing, in my opinion, and that was even more recent. I saw Expelled. The messages I got out of it:
1) Life and speciation are too complex for us to explain- there must be a God!
2) If evolution is right, the liberals have a valid argument for being pro-choice. Since abortion is never okay, evolution is false.
3) There ARE scientists that support ID, they're just held at arms length from the rest of the scientific community. Scientists are just snobby like that.
I have a question. Maybe someone can help me out. What's the difference between ID and creationism? A distinction was clearly made, but I didn't get it.
Creationism vs ID
We were discussing this at work just yesterday and one of my co-workers made a great analogy. He compared the ID movement to the "Don't ask, don't tell" policy of the military. They're still creationists they just don't generally say it out loud.
Creationism/ID
To the best of my knowledge, creationism is the religious view that everything -- the universe, and life -- was created by a supernatural superbeing.
"Intelligent Design" is a trojan horse which is EXACTLY the same idea, only framed in pseudo-scientific terms in order to get it wedged into science classes, science books, and science discussion. The stealthy, dishonest, hidden purpose is to confuse people about science and to advance religion.
Intelligent Design is creationism as related by liars. Or, if you're religious, creationism is the embarrasing father-that-we-don't-talk-about of the nobly embattled, scientific Theory of Intelligent Design.
The poor, persecuted christians
Lots of whining about how christians are being "oppressed" if they can't abuse their positions to promote their faith going on right now, especially on the creationist front. In Florida, legislation is being pushed which would grant teachers the "academic freedom" to teach intelligent design creationism in public school science classes, and tomorrow the Ben Stein whine-fest "Expelled" opens. It promotes the view that Darwinism is directly responsible for Hitler and the holocaust-the virulent anti-semitism of German christianity going back centuries to Martin Luther notwithstanding. The religious right will lap it up.
