Houston, we have a problem.

Man, I thought I did a lot of crazy shit when I was a stoned adolescent:

3 accused of using corpse head to smoke pot

The Kingwood teenager's story of decapitating a corpse and using the head to smoke marijuana was so outlandish that at first Houston Police Department senior police officer Jim Adkins did not believe it.

Yet, Kevin Wade Jones Jr., 17, appeared almost indifferent as he relayed the bizarre description of his and two friends' activities at an Humble area graveyard, Adkins said.

"I just doubted it because it's very morbid, and I couldn't see anybody doing something like this," Adkins said Thursday.

Not until police went to the home of another Kingwood 17-year-old, Matthew Richard Gonzalez, did the officer believe the tale.

"He regurgitated in his plate of food when I asked him about it," Adkins said. "So I knew there was some truth to the story."

Yeah, that's usually a dead give-away. So to speak.

Skull and bones

I think maybe the better expression is "a dead take-away". Does this qualify the boys for Bush's Skull and Bones society? Granddaddy Bush, Prescott, is accused of digging up and stealing Geronimo's skull for the society.

Kingwood

When I left Houston in the 70s, Kingwood was just this vast stretch of dense pine forest that was only then being bulldozed down and carved up into a subdivision.

Forty years later, they're digging up graves and making custom skull-bongs.

Ah, progress.

...

And what's up with the "corpse head" headline on that story? Did somebody not know they could say "skull"?

...

The story also says the three boys were home-schooled. Five bucks says their parents are fundamentalist Christians, raising their boys to be good little God-bots, and not Mensa members worried that public schools will intellectually short-change them.

Skulls and heads

The word skull implies a bare bone skull, whereas 'head of a corpse' makes me a think of a head with flesh and hair still attached. Much more gruesome than a mere skull.

It's more sensational that way

"Corpse head" sounds so much more gruesome, and fresh, than "skull", doesn't it?

Yea, I won't be taking that bet, Hank. "Home Schooled" and "crazy" just scream religion.

Responding in the proper idiom: "That's some f*cked up sh*t dude."
