Another Reason the Mainstream News Media Sucks
Yesterday Rep. Dennis Kucinich, D-Ohio, presented 35 Articles of Impeachment on the floor of the House of Representatives.
And today I can’t find it on the mainstream media at all, anywhere. ABC, CNN, MSNBC — even the BBC has let readers down.
I have found a very brief story on Reuters, but it makes the point several times that the effort is not expected to go anywhere.
Bob Fertik, President of Democrats.com, said: “Some might question why Congressman Kucinich has done this now. My question is why 434 other Congress Members have not done it before. Despite the uncountable and unspeakable crimes this administration has committed, George Bush and Dick Cheney remain in power and immune from prosecution. Congress must impeach Bush and Cheney now - before they further abuse their power by pardoning [everyone involved] for all of their crimes.”
You can read the full text of the Articles of Impeachment here.
Thirty-five detailed reasons why Bush should be impeached, 7 years of lies and deception and theft and death, 7 years at the helm while America’s power and prestige eroded away, 7 years of assaults on the environment, on freedoms, on the economy, on our own belief in Justice.
All vanishing into silence, into indifference, so that Bush and company just ... get away with it. Retiring rich and powerful, giving speeches at $50,000 a whack, writing books twisting history for their own pleasure, and a gutless, ball-less American media — and a Democratic congress, it must be said — just sitting back and letting it happen.
You can find out more about it at www.Democrats.com .

Pelosi and Reid are culpuble
As mentioned on Oberman's show last night, the Dems want to keep Bush et al in office for political reasons; they can increase their majority and gain seats. Of course, doing their duty to the Constitution and the public comes second. I won't be sending the Dems any more money, just letters of digust.
Sending the Dems Money
I did the same thing. I sent the Dems several emails and a hard-copy letter, basically saying I'd never, ever send them any more money. That they were proving there was a single political party, which posed as two only for the purpose of milking the yokels.
It's on CNN
It's on CNN now.

I don't think that will help it go through or anything, but at least it's being reported. Mainstream media isn't quite as nimble as smaller sources, so it sometimes takes them a few extra hours to catch on.
Update!
I just found a poll on MSNBC to vote on whether to impeach or not. Hat tip to a Common Dreams poster for the link. I couldn't link directly and I could only vote once, but, go to the bottom of the page and there's the link to vote. When I was just there it was well over 84% for impeachment.
I don't know how to insert the link so...hope this works.

I suspect it's that it won't do anything....
I suspect the real reason is that it's not going to go anywhere. I think there was another member who tried in January.
Here's CBS and AP.
news.google.com lists a bunch more.
Oh...
...no doubt it won't go anywhere, but to do nothing, or even intentionally block proceedings to go forward? That would be beyond complicit and enabling this whole corrupt crowd.
Recall it was Spkr. Pelosi who grandstandingly declared that 'impeachment is off the table'. WTF? Impeachment is the constitutional duty of the House, and they have looked more to the politics than their sworn duty for too long, perhaps this will get some off the dime. I just wrote to my Congress Critter, Gabrielle Giffords and urged her to sign on as a co-sponsor.
I believe the earlier attempts in this direction you allude to were 'tabled' or 'held up in committees'. From what I'm reading, Kucinich's latest jab is an actual introduction of Articles of Impeachment, and news reports are saying it's 'the first', so perhaps this time it will gather more legs, or at least it may not be possible to ignore it.
I won't be satisfied until the lot is swinging from the ends of ropes. Fat chance.
My outrage...
...has been tempered by my deep discouragement and disappointment. I no longer care because I don't have the energy to fight it any more. I have written hundreds of letters and emails, signed countless petitions and made more phone calls than I can count for the past seven years, and alas, all to no avail.
The Dems are just as complicit in this country's sad slide into fascism as the republicans, along with the 'librul' MSM of course.
Does anyone really think Obama will give up the unitary executive powers that shrubco has taken upon himself? (He hasn't said he would) Close Gitmo? Reign in the out of control military-industrial-intelligence collaboration? Close the secret prisons and torture chambers around the world? Stop the renditions, bring home the 'ghost prison ships'? He's just the other side of the coin, as are the vast majority in both the House and Senate, bought and paid for corporate shills.
While I certainly applaud Kucinich's attempt, as well as the ongoing investigations by Wexler, it will all come to naught, and the people that should rightfully not only be impeached but tried in the Hague for war crimes and crimes against humanity will as Mr. Fox so aptly puts it:
He actually might give something up
Does anyone really think Obama will give up the unitary executive powers that shrubco has taken upon himself? (He hasn't said he would)
Well he has said he would overturn unconstitutional executive orders in the first 100 days . He could be full of it saying this, but along with promises to make the federal government more transparent give me hope that he might actually follow through with giving up some of the power Bush argued for.
Maybe
Maybe. Maybe not, but one thing we can be sure of is that John McCain wouldn't.
Amen
A-fucking-men.
