Christians Trash the Earth

I've got to make this quick. Recently, I received an invitation to make a pledge to reduce my use of bottled water. Seemed reasonable, especially since my events can go through hundreds of bottles in a day. Once I read the background information about how much waste is involved and the impact on the environment I decided to make the pledge. Plus there's a prize (trip to Glacier) that would be cool to win.

(See the pledge here: http://water.newdream.org/campaigns/water/register/3c730fecb0427c1674d5c...)

Rather innocently, I forwarded the invitation along to a list of past participants in the events I organize. I've gotten lots of great responses and one that scared me ...

I'd love to hear about any upcoming races, but the rest you can keep to yourself. Please don't send me any more of your rhetoric about "save the earth" anymore. Here is what one of my favorite preachers has to say about our planet:

"Can I stop here and give a word to the environmentalists? Can I give a word to the "Save the Earth" group? If you think man has messed up this earth, wait till you see what God does to it? This is a disposable planet, my friend, it was made disposable by sin. You wait till you see what its Creator does to it. He made it, sin devastated it, and He'll destroy it. It's a throw-away world now, it's a throw-away universe. The cosmos that came out of the chaos is going back to chaos and out of the chaos will come a new cosmos...the new heavens and the new earth. Peter wrote about that in 2 Peter chapter 3." From John MacArthur "Fear the Wrath to Come"

This has probably been referenced here before, but WTF? I don't know where to begin in the short time I have today. Help.

Take a Fifth.

Seriously, there are times when the only thing that seems to make any sense is to start drinking heavily. From a recyclable bottle, of course. ;)

Nah, I've run into it many times, and it's been talked about here. The whole mindset of "God gave us this planet to do with as we please"/"This is all the fault of original sin"/"The Second Coming wipes the slate clean"/Et-fucking-cetera drives me nuts. Three is just no talking with this kind of mindset - there's no way to reach some kind of accord with them at all. Just cut your losses, and move on best you can.

Yeah, I know, it's depressing.
