Local kids done good
Here in California we've got a stupid ballot initiative that seeks to amend the state constitution to define marriage as between a man and a woman. Well the money has poured into the state from the Mormons and Dobson's Focus on the Family group and they're blanketing the airwaves, planting signs, and fielding troops on the ground to stand and street corners in matching shirts who wave Yes on 8 signs.
I just read an article about some high school kids who are doing their part to fight against this. Here is a great quote from one of them:
"Prop. 8 is not only a religious issue. It's an issue of discrimination and prejudice. Who's to say atheists and agnostics won't be next?"
This is a kid who started a school club called the "Freethinking Atheist and Agnostic Kinship student club"
Just maybe there's hope after all...

Local kids respond
Thank you so much for the support! I am a member of the Freethinking Atheist and Agnostic Kinship, a club at Capistrano Valley High School. We organized the No on Prop 8 rally that took place this morning in front of the school. The article about the actual rally is posted
here. For more information about FAAK, please visit our website at:

Corbett
I remember reading about the BS surrounding the suit against Corbett. I was great to see you guys supporting him.
Yesterday my daughter participated in a No on 8 rally with other San Clemente HS students. They got a lot of support from passing motorists.
Keep Up The Great Work!
Hey, pass along our proud support to the rest of the club! Keep fighting the good fight!
"Religious issue"
It isn't a religious issue at all. Someone needs to point out to the churches that two people in California - heck, anywhere in North America for that matter - can have a state recognized marriage without any church involvement whatsoever. People have been going to their local City Hall to get married for decades upon decades. The church's opinion on those marriages has never carried any weight, why should it in this situation?
They shouldn't
They should carry any weight but the religious organizations are throwing their weight against this by pouring a truckload of money into it.
I find it ironic that these people are trying to (in their own words) "protect marriage." When you look at the statistics, the divorce rate is higher among christians. If they want to protect marriage they ought to start at home.
Most of the demographic stuff I've seen . . .
Most of the demographic stuff I've seen is quite hopeful in this regard, actually.
