COTG 94 - At Hank's Place!
Submitted by Brent Rasmussen on June 22, 2008 - 8:54am.The 94th Carnival Of The Godless is posted over at Hank's place - Earthman's Notebook. Check it out!
Also - I need hosts, people. There are only two more hosts in the queue, which means that a month from now the COTG could end, before it even gets to the 100th edition.
There are plenty of atheist blogs out there now. If you have a new or new-ish atheist blog, and you are looking to get some great exposure and bump your hit count through the roof, volunteer to host the COTG. I'll put you on the hosting list and get you set up. Email me at brent.rasmussen@gmail.com and request a hosting slot. If you want a specific date, let me know that as well. Remember we have Halloween, Thanksgiving, Hanukkah, and Christmas coming up!

Carnival Of The Godless Guidelines
Submitted by Brent Rasmussen on January 20, 2008 - 7:55am.
Carnival Of The Godless Guidelines
1. The post you send in must be from a godless perspective and address something such as godlessness, atheism, church/state separation, the evolution/creation debate, theodicy, philosophy of religion as it relates to godlessness, etc. There is a huge amount of wiggle room in the post subject and we will consider every submission carefully for inclusion.
2. You may only submit one post per carnival. More may be accepted at the host's discretion. If you submit a post that you really think ought to be included from another blog, and the author of that blog also submits a post, we'll use their post. This should be considered a great way to get one of your excellent, but (for whatever reason) unknown or underrated posts in front of a potentially huge audience. Grab the bull by the horns!
Time frame
The Carnival Of The Godless will be posted every two weeks on Sunday. The cutoff date for submissions will be the preceding Friday. If we get the submissions chosen and sorted out before Sunday, it will be posted earlier.
Submissions
Send your submissions to the COTG Submissions page at Blogcarnival.com. Make sure you include:
- The name of the blog where the post is from
- The post title.
- The post author's name or handle.
- The post's permanent link.
- A short description of the post.
Attention Internet Infidels
Forum posts may also be submitted. Have you written something on the boards that you think needs a wider audience than II? Submit it!
Hosting
If you run a godless blog and if you would like to host the Carnival Of The Godless, send your hosting request to cotg-host@brentrasmussen.com.

79th Carnival Of The Godless
Submitted by Brent Rasmussen on November 25, 2007 - 9:16am.The 79th COTG is up over at the Sexy Secularist. And it's got scansion and meter!
I Get Letters...
Submitted by Brent Rasmussen on October 9, 2007 - 7:53am.I set up the Carnival Of The Godless to accept submissions via the very handy blogcarnival.com service a while back. for the longest time I hand-processed the submissions every two weeks. The blogcarnival.com site does all of that for me now. (Kudos to them, by the way!)
However, my email address was out there for a long, long time, so I still get the occasional COTG submission sent to it. So, I set up a filter in Thunderbird to reply to these submission emails with a polite little response that basically asks them to please re-submit using the proper form URL over at blogcarnival.com.
One submitter with the handle "owlafaye" sent me a bare submission. That is to say, it was just the text of the submission, not hosted anywhere. (If you'd like to read the full text of his submission - and you think your sanity can handle it - click here.) My Thunderbird filter replied with my polite auto-response, and I thought nothing of it - until this morning when I received yet another email from our intrepid submitter.
[owlafaye] Your submission form asks for a URL...haven't one on hand...pretty stupid requests piss me off.
Take it or leave it...also there is a bug that keeps your site on my computer and I can't get rid of it.
Get your shit together.
So, I replied to his little foot-stomping tantrum.
More below the fold...

The Skeptic's Circle Saloon (SC #69)
Submitted by Brent Rasmussen on September 12, 2007 - 5:24pm.
The ride had been long, but coming back to the town of Skeptic's Circle after being away for nearly two years felt good.
My appy mare smelled the fresh hay layed in next to the livery about a mile out of town and I let her prance a bit. I looked to my left and grinned. This time the UTI brand was represented well. Jim Downey, my ranch manager, trotted his horse alongside mine, his Sharps 50 rifle riding high in it's scabbard, the vernier sights packed away in their own leather pouch. Rick Ulrey, a former soldier, rode slightly behind us, his eyes scanning our backtrail for sign. Hank Fox, a grizzled veteran of many skeptical campaigns, rode ahead. Eric Lorson, brought up the rear, his oiled-leather guitar case strapped where a long rifle scabbard would normally go, his crossed pistols secured with leather.
My old partner DS, who had been with me two years ago when we came in to town, had started working for the Kos brand a while back, and from what I'd heard was doing good work there. Not that I ever doubted it. DS was a hell of a hard worker.
As we got closer I noticed that the town of Skeptic's Circle was...
(This one ran a lot longer than I thought it would, folks. There were a lot of submissions! If you want to skip reading the story, and instead just have a plain-jane list of links, you can find them here. Thanks for reading! -Brent)

UTI will be hosting the 69th edition of the Skeptic's Circle on September 13. Send your submissions to me at brent@brentrasmussen.com. The rules and guidelines for submission are located here.
